Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Now Generally Available, Revolutionizing Enterprise AI Agent Deployment

TLDR: Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced the general availability of Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, an enterprise-grade platform designed to accelerate the development, deployment, and operation of highly capable AI agents securely and at scale. This move aims to transition AI agents from prototypes to production-ready solutions, offering robust security, scalability, and comprehensive operational tools for businesses.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) officially announced on October 13, 2025, the general availability of Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, marking a significant step in making AI agents a practical reality for enterprises. The platform is positioned as a comprehensive solution for organizations looking to build, deploy, and operate sophisticated AI agents with confidence, addressing critical needs for security, scalability, and reliability in production environments.

AgentCore is designed to move AI agents beyond the prototyping phase into full-scale production. AWS emphasizes that while frameworks and low-code tools exist, enterprise-grade agents require a secure, reliable, scalable, and purpose-built operational foundation tailored to their non-deterministic nature. Drawing on its extensive experience in building mission-critical systems, AWS has engineered AgentCore to provide this essential foundation.

The platform offers a complete suite of services for developers, enabling them to equip agents with necessary tools, memory, and data to manage complex workflows. Agents can be deployed with minimal code, leveraging one of the most secure and scalable runtimes available. Furthermore, AgentCore provides the necessary controls and access management for enterprise deployments, all without requiring infrastructure management from the developer.

Key components and features of Amazon Bedrock AgentCore include:

AgentCore Code Interpreter: Allows agents to securely generate and execute code within isolated environments.

AgentCore Browser: Enables agents to interact with web applications at scale, supported by enterprise-grade security and comprehensive observability.

AgentCore Gateway: Transforms existing APIs and AWS Lambda functions into agent-compatible tools, facilitating seamless integration with third-party business services like Jira, Asana, and Zendesk.

AgentCore Memory: Helps developers create context-aware experiences by enabling agents to build and maintain detailed understanding of user preferences and historical interactions.

AgentCore Observability: Provides comprehensive monitoring through real-time dashboards and detailed audit trails, crucial for understanding the reasoning and actions of non-deterministic agents.

Enterprise-grade Security: Embeds security across every service, supporting VPC environments and AWS PrivateLink. The AgentCore Runtime utilizes microVM technology, offering each agent session its own isolated computing environment to prevent data leaks and maintain interaction integrity.

AWS reports significant early adoption, with the AgentCore SDK having been downloaded over a million times by customers across various industries. Notable early customers include Clearwater Analytics (CWAN), Cox Automotive, Druva, Ericsson, Experian, Heroku, National Australia Bank, Sony, and Thomson Reuters.

In the competitive landscape of AI agent platforms, Amazon Bedrock AgentCore enters alongside offerings such as Google Cloud’s Gemini Enterprise (which absorbed Agentspace), Salesforce’s Agentforce 360, and Microsoft’s recently previewed Agent Framework. AWS also highlighted the Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server, a tool designed to accelerate AI agent development and simplify the creation of Bedrock AgentCore-compatible components, offering built-in support for runtime, gateway integration, identity management, and agent memory.
