TLDR: Barcelona-based startup Altan has successfully raised $2.5 million in pre-seed funding to advance its vision of fully autonomous, self-operating software. The company utilizes AI agent ‘squads’ to design, build, and deploy production-grade applications from simple text or voice prompts, aiming to revolutionize software creation by eliminating the need for human intervention in operation and maintenance.
Barcelona, Spain – Altan, an innovative AI startup, has announced the successful closure of a $2.5 million pre-seed funding round. This significant investment is set to accelerate the company’s pioneering work in developing fully autonomous software capable of designing, building, and running itself with minimal human input. The funding round was co-led by VentureFriends and JME Ventures, with additional participation from 4Founders Ventures, Carles Reina of ElevenLabs, and a roster of prominent angel investors including Pau Suris (Remotely), Pau Sabria (Remotely), Albert Armengol (Doctoralia), David Baratech (Yaba), and Lluis Faus (vLex).
Founded in 2024 by lifelong friends Albert Salgueda (CEO) and Tristán Pou (CTO), Altan emerged from a shared recognition of a critical bottleneck in the software industry: a vast disparity between the abundance of ideas and the scarcity of technical talent. ‘Less than 1% of the world knows how to code. But 100% of the world has ideas,’ stated Albert Salgueda. ‘Altan now allows them to bring any idea to reality. Not in the form of a mockup, but with the full power of software and AI.’
Altan’s platform distinguishes itself from traditional low-code and no-code solutions by adopting an ‘agent-native’ approach. Instead of merely simplifying development for human users, Altan’s core innovation lies in creating software designed to be operated by AI agents themselves. Users can describe a product idea in plain language – either text or voice – and the platform then assembles a ‘squad’ of specialized AI agents. These agents collaboratively assume roles such as full-stack engineer, product manager, and UX designer to autonomously design, build, and deploy production-grade software.
This agent-first architecture enables applications to function autonomously post-launch, drastically reducing the need for human operation, maintenance, and scaling. This capability makes it possible to establish entire businesses in a matter of hours. ‘At Altan, we’re pioneering a completely new category of software: fully autonomous software designed to operate without human intervention,’ added Salgueda. ‘Our goal is to let you be the ‘idea’ person, and let the agents do everything else.’
The platform covers the entire software lifecycle, encompassing front-end and back-end development, payment and workflow integrations, customer databases, hosting, and embeddable agent interfaces (voice, chat, video) for operations. This comprehensive approach is seen as a foundational step towards the realization of ‘autonomous companies’ – businesses managed not by human employees, but by intelligent software agents capable of independent decision-making and execution.

Altan has already seen significant traction, reporting over 25,000 users leveraging its platform during its beta phase. These users range from large corporations and agencies seeking to accelerate software development to individuals without coding experience looking to bring their concepts to market. The company operates on a subscription-based model, with plans starting at approximately $25 per month. The newly acquired capital will be utilized to expand Altan’s seven-member team, deepen its technological capabilities, and scale its user base globally. The long-term vision is to build fully autonomous companies that can launch and operate without any human day-to-day involvement, marking a profound shift in the future of software.
