AI Revolutionizes Real Estate: Rechat CEO on Lowering the Learning Curve for Agents

TLDR: Shayan Hamidi, founder and CEO of Rechat, discusses how artificial intelligence is transforming the real estate industry by significantly reducing the learning curve for agents. Rechat’s AI assistant, Lucy, automates time-consuming tasks like website creation, enabling agents to focus on client relationships and strategic work. Hamidi emphasizes that while AI provides powerful tools, success in today’s highly competitive market still demands long-term commitment and professionalism from agents.

Artificial intelligence is rapidly becoming an indispensable tool in the real estate sector, with industry leaders like Shayan Hamidi, founder and CEO of Rechat, highlighting its potential to ‘bring down the learning curve’ for agents. In an interview with Real Estate News, Hamidi detailed how AI, particularly generative AI, is moving from backend analytics to the forefront of agent-facing products, streamlining operations and enhancing client experience.

Rechat, established in 2015, has evolved into a ‘super app’ for real estate professionals, offering a comprehensive suite of marketing tools, a CRM, and a transaction management center. A key innovation is Lucy, an AI assistant designed to execute tasks that traditionally consumed hours or even weeks of an agent’s time. Hamidi provided a compelling example: ‘You can ask her to create a website for you, … and within seconds, it’s done. Historically, you’d have to spend a couple thousand dollars and wait for a couple of weeks possibly to do this. Internally, we have a saying: “We went from 90 days to 90 seconds.”‘ This dramatic reduction in task completion time underscores AI’s efficiency.

Hamidi, with a background in computer science, math, and economics, explained that AI is a ‘perfect fit for real estate’ due to the ‘unbelievable amount of tasks that need to be executed’ by agents daily. These tasks range from managing buyers and sellers, handling listings, prospecting, creating marketing content, to nurturing client relationships. Historically, successful agents would hire assistants to manage this legwork, a luxury not all could afford. AI democratizes this support, making a virtual assistant accessible to every agent, thereby ‘helping them with the heavy lifting on things they don’t need to be an expert on.’

Despite the technological advancements, Hamidi stressed that AI does not make the job easy. The current real estate market is described as ‘very tough,’ characterized by low inventory, sticky interest rates, and increased competition. He also acknowledged the impact of macro-economic elements and recent lawsuits on the industry. His advice to agents is to ‘take a step back’ and recognize that the market demands full-time commitment and professionalism. ‘This is no longer something you can do while you are a teacher on the side or have other gigs on the side. This is only something you can do if you see it as a full-time profession,’ he asserted, emphasizing a long-term, marathon-like approach to success.
