These emerging businesses are primarily concentrating on patient communications, deploying AI agents and chatbots, including advanced voice solutions, to manage patient queries and calls without direct human intervention.
This technological shift addresses a significant challenge faced by hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare providers: the persistent struggle to recruit and retain staff for managing patient needs, which often leads to frustration and delays for patients. Investors are keenly aware of the immense opportunity this presents.
In a notable development, Confido Health announced a $10 million Series A funding round. This round was led by Blume Ventures, with additional participation from new investors such as Schema Ventures and Vicus Ventures, alongside existing backers like Together Fund, DeVC, and Medmountain Ventures. Strategic healthcare operators, including Innovaccer and Memora Health, also contributed to the funding.
This announcement follows a series of substantial fundraising efforts by similar companies in recent months. In August, Assort Health successfully closed a Series B round, raising approximately $50 million, led by Lightspeed Venture Partners. Concurrently, Hello Patient unveiled details of its $22.5 million Series A round, spearheaded by Scale Venture Partners. Furthermore, EliseAI, a more established organization with a presence across multiple industries, has reportedly secured $250 million in recent months.
Chetan Reddy, co-founder and CEO of Confido Health, highlighted the intensifying competition, stating, “Our round will fund the development of new use cases and enable us to pursue growth as quickly as possible. It almost feels like a landgrab out there right now.”
Confido Health initially specialized in managing calls related to patient scheduling, a segment that accounts for an estimated 30% to 40% of all inquiries received by healthcare providers. Reddy reports that their autonomous voice agents are now capable of handling 95% of these calls, with human operators stepping in only for issues the AI cannot resolve. The next strategic step for Confido Health and its competitors involves expanding the capabilities of these voice agents to effectively manage other complex issues. The company’s agents are already handling various care management calls, prescription refill requests, and payment collections.
