Adobe Unveils Premiere App for iOS, Bringing Desktop-Level Video Editing and Generative AI to Mobile

TLDR: Adobe has announced the upcoming release of its Premiere app for iOS, set to launch on September 30, 2025. This new mobile application aims to provide professional-grade video editing capabilities, including a multi-track timeline, 4K HDR support, and a suite of generative AI tools powered by Adobe Firefly, all within a free-to-download interface optimized for iPhones and iPads.

Adobe is set to revolutionize mobile video editing with the introduction of its new Premiere app for iOS, slated for release on September 30, 2025. The application, already available for pre-order on the Apple App Store, promises to deliver a professional-grade editing experience directly to iPhones and iPads, bridging the gap between mobile convenience and desktop-level creative control.

The new Premiere app is designed to offer an uncluttered interface while supporting comprehensive end-to-end video editing. Users will benefit from a multi-track timeline allowing for an unlimited number of video, audio, and text layers, alongside the ability to make frame-accurate cuts. Key features include 4K HDR support, animated captions, Lightroom color presets, background removal, and various motion effects such as slow motion and speed changes. The app also provides advanced controls for unlinking audio and refining every cut, enabling creators to flip, reverse, or freeze clips.

A significant highlight of the new Premiere app is its deep integration of generative AI tools, powered by Adobe Firefly. These AI capabilities are poised to enhance various aspects of video production. Users can generate stickers, images, videos, and backgrounds directly within the app using text prompts. For audio, the app includes AI speech enhancement to deliver studio-quality results by reducing background noise, and even allows creators to transform their own voice into unique sound effects. An AI-generated narration feature further expands the creative possibilities.

Adobe emphasizes that the app will be free to download and use, without ads or watermarks on exports. However, charges will apply for additional cloud storage and generative AI credits, allowing users to scale their usage based on their needs. The mobile Premiere app also facilitates seamless workflows, enabling users to import projects and media created on iOS directly into the desktop version of Premiere Pro.

For social media creators, the app offers one-tap export options optimized for popular platforms like TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram, complete with automatic content resizing for different social media formats. The launch of this new Premiere app also marks a strategic shift for Adobe, as support for its previous mobile offering, Premiere Rush, is scheduled to end on September 30, 2025. An Android version of the new Premiere app is also currently in development.

According to Adobe, the goal is to offer creators the same level of control professionals use for commercials, music videos, and films, but within a simplified interface optimized for smartphones. Mike Polner, vice president of product marketing for creators, noted that the new iOS version of Premiere is closer to Premiere Pro, offering ‘professional-level creative control without pro-level complexity.’ The app will also provide access to Adobe’s extensive stock library of music, graphics, photos, and video assets, along with fonts and Lightroom presets, further empowering creators on the go.
