TLDR: Absci Corporation has announced a strategic shift in its drug development pipeline, prioritizing its generative AI-designed ABS-201 antibody for androgenetic alopecia and endometriosis. The company reported a net loss of $28.7 million for Q3 2025, with revenue at $0.4 million, but maintains a cash runway into the first half of 2028. Interim Phase 1 results for ABS-101 showed extended half-life and no serious adverse events, with Absci exploring partnership opportunities for this asset.
VANCOUVER, Wash. and NEW YORK – November 12, 2025 – Absci Corporation (Nasdaq: ABSI), a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company leveraging generative artificial intelligence for drug discovery, today released its business updates and financial and operating results for the third quarter ended September 30, 2025.
The company is undergoing a significant strategic reallocation of resources, sharpening its focus on the ABS-201 program, an anti-PRLR antibody, for two high-value indications: androgenetic alopecia (pattern baldness) and endometriosis. This move is driven by the strong biological rationale and substantial unmet medical need in these areas, aiming to maximize patient impact and shareholder returns.
Sean McClain, Founder and CEO of Absci, stated, “This quarter marks a pivotal inflection point for Absci as we sharpen our focus on ABS-201, advancing this program in two high-value indications with strong biological rationale and significant unmet need. By reallocating our resources toward the PRLR mechanism in androgenetic alopecia and endometriosis, we’re positioned to create meaningful impact for patients while driving the greatest return for shareholders. Our strategy reflects disciplined execution and confidence in the power of generative AI protein design to deliver breakthrough therapeutics.”
Pipeline Advancements:
-
ABS-201 (Androgenetic Alopecia): Absci has accelerated the initiation of a Phase 1/2a clinical trial for ABS-201 in androgenetic alopecia to December 2025, with potential for an interim efficacy readout in the second half of 2026. The company believes ABS-201 could offer a more efficacious, convenient, durable, and safe option compared to current standards of care.
-
ABS-201 (Endometriosis): Expanding its strategy, Absci will also pursue endometriosis as an additional indication for ABS-201, targeting a large, underserved market. A Phase 2 clinical trial for endometriosis is anticipated to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026, with potential for proof-of-concept data in the second half of 2027.
-
ABS-101 (Anti-TL1A): Interim results from the Phase 1 trial for ABS-101 (anti-TL1A) demonstrated an extended half-life compared to first-generation competitor programs, with no serious adverse events reported. Absci is actively exploring potential partnership and outlicensing opportunities for this asset, consistent with its business strategy, and will not initiate additional later-stage internal development for ABS-101.
