ST Engineering Establishes New Center to Advance Agentic AI Cybersecurity Solutions

ST Engineering has inaugurated a new Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Singapore, dedicated to accelerating the development and deployment of agentic artificial intelligence (AI)-driven cybersecurity solutions. This strategic move, announced on October 21, 2025, underscores the company’s commitment to bolstering cyber defense capabilities across critical sectors.

The newly established CoE will initially comprise 26 specialists, with plans to expand its team to 81 experts. Its primary objective is to deliver enhanced cyber defense across a wide array of systems, including enterprise information technology (IT), 5G networks, operational technology (OT), and Internet of Things (IoT) systems. Beyond immediate defense enhancements, the center will also play a crucial role in talent development, establishing dedicated labs and training programs in collaboration with local institutes of higher learning, such as Republic Polytechnic and Singapore Polytechnic.

This initiative is part of ST Engineering’s broader, significant investment in AI. The company previously unveiled a five-year, SGD $250 million AI Research Translation programme for Physical AI at its InnoTech Conference 2025 in September. This program, led by ST Engineering in partnership with academic and research institutions, aims to advance robotics, swarm, and humanoid technologies to address complex operational challenges, with an initial focus on improving human-machine collaboration.

A key component of this larger AI program is the Manned-Unmanned Teaming Operating System (MUMTOS), which serves as a minimum viable product to demonstrate capabilities in coordinated human-machine operations. MUMTOS is designed to be the central system for collaboration between human personnel and various autonomous units like robots, drones, and vehicles, providing real-time operational analytics and facilitating integrated decision-making. For instance, it can assist in humanitarian missions by analyzing factors like oxygen levels and structural stability, and even coordinate hospital notifications and ambulance dispatches.

Lee Shiang Long, Group Chief Technology & Digital Officer at ST Engineering, emphasized the company’s long-standing application of AI across multiple domains. “For many years, ST Engineering has applied AI across multiple domains, gaining first-hand experience of its potential and understanding its real-world challenges,” said Lee. “Building on this foundation, our focus supported by increased investment, positions us to lead the AI Research Translation programme and turn advanced AI and robotics into impactful solutions across industries.”

ST Engineering aims to cultivate a robust AI talent pool, targeting 5,000 AI engineers in the coming years. This will involve upskilling 4,000 engineers in AI modules and system deployment, and creating 1,000 AI specialists focused on developing AI modules, cybersecurity for AI, and agentic AI systems. These efforts are crucial for driving advanced AI capabilities and delivering transformative solutions across various industries.
