Meta Introduces ‘Vibes’: A New AI-Generated Short-Form Video Platform

TLDR: Meta Platforms has launched ‘Vibes,’ an innovative AI-powered video feed integrated into the Meta AI app and meta.ai website. This new platform allows users to create, remix, and share short-form videos generated entirely by artificial intelligence, marking a significant strategic shift towards AI-native content and interactive generative media.

Meta Platforms has officially rolled out ‘Vibes,’ a groundbreaking AI-generated video feed, to its Meta AI app and meta.ai website, with availability commencing on September 26, 2025. This initiative represents a pivotal move for the social media giant, aiming to accelerate its advancements in artificial intelligence technology and redefine user engagement through generative media.

Vibes is designed as a dynamic platform where creativity meets artificial intelligence. Unlike traditional video platforms that rely on user-uploaded content, Vibes exclusively features short-form videos crafted entirely by AI. Users are empowered to generate new videos from scratch, or to remix existing clips by altering music, visual styles, motion, and animation. Each video on the platform is transparently tagged with the specific AI prompt used for its creation, fostering a learning environment for users interested in generative AI. Finished creations can be shared directly within the Vibes feed or seamlessly cross-posted to Instagram and Facebook Stories and Reels.

This launch is deeply embedded within Meta’s broader AI strategy. The company reorganized its AI efforts in June 2025 under a new division called ‘Superintelligence Labs.’ This restructuring aimed to streamline work across four key verticals: research, foundation models, product integration, and infrastructure. CEO Mark Zuckerberg has consistently emphasized the company’s ambition to position AI at the core of Meta’s future growth. The introduction of Vibes is seen as a strategic bet on AI-driven content to unlock new monetization opportunities, especially as digital ad revenues show signs of moderation and the development of its Llama 4 model has encountered challenges. Vibes effectively replaces the ‘Discover’ feed in the Meta AI app, shifting the focus from demonstrating AI capabilities to providing a fully AI-generated entertainment experience.

Currently in its preview phase, Vibes leverages collaborations with external AI innovators such as Midjourney and Black Forest Labs, with Meta’s in-house AI models expected to progressively power the platform. This blend of internal and external expertise underscores Meta’s commitment to rapidly iterating on its AI offerings.

For users, Vibes offers unprecedented creative freedom, enabling individuals to experiment with animation and art without requiring specialized technical skills. It fosters a ‘remix culture,’ allowing users to build upon existing creations and add their unique flair. The cross-platform integration ensures wide visibility for user-generated AI content, and the display of prompts serves as an educational tool. However, early reception has been mixed, with some tech publications describing the feed as ‘fascinating yet chaotic’ and a stream of ‘AI slop’ in its experimental stages, raising questions about long-term engagement and authenticity. Meta, which reported nearly US$165 billion in revenue in 2024, views Vibes as merely the initial step towards a future of AI-native content ecosystems, where human and artificial intelligence creativity converge in a shared social space. Future updates are hinted to include in-feed editing, voice prompts, AI music generation, and integration with Meta’s augmented and virtual reality systems.
