The landmark achievement was announced on September 28, 2025, by co-founder Aleksandr Mashrabov, who previously led generative AI initiatives at Snap Inc., during an event at Nazarbayev University. This milestone marks a significant breakthrough for Kazakhstan’s burgeoning tech ecosystem, being the first company in the country to reach unicorn status in 15 years.
Higgsfield AI, co-founded by AI researcher Erzat Dulat and Mashrabov less than two years ago, has rapidly ascended in the global technology landscape. The company specializes in developing advanced generative AI models capable of creating videos from simple text prompts, a technology showcased in its flagship ‘Click-to-Video’ product. This innovation has garnered widespread attention, attracting millions of users, including prominent actors, musicians, and athletes, and generating over 1.2 billion views across social media platforms within just five months of its launch.
The startup’s impressive growth is underscored by its financial performance, having generated more than $50 million in run-rate revenue. Its journey to unicorn status has been significantly bolstered by investments from leading global funds, including Menlo Ventures, known for its backing of companies like Anthropic, as well as GFT Ventures, BroadLight Capital, NextEquity Partners, and AI Capital Partners. The company recently secured $50 million in Series A financing on September 10, 2025, signaling strong international confidence in Kazakhstan’s emerging technology sector.
Beyond its core video generation capabilities, Higgsfield AI has also ventured into innovative applications, notably unveiling Kion, Kazakhstan’s first AI-powered virtual singer. The team announced Kion’s debut full-scale AI music video, ‘Kion – Stay Mad,’ fully generated using Higgsfield x KLING technologies, and an ‘AI World Tour KION 2026.’
Mashrabov emphasized the significance of this achievement, stating, ‘For the last 15 years, no company in our country has managed to achieve this. This achievement did not come overnight.
