LAON PEOPLE’s Odin AI Bolsters Korean Government Agencies’ Disaster and Security Response

TLDR: LAON PEOPLE has successfully deployed its AI-powered Odin AI solution across various Korean government agencies, including the Yongsan District Office, Incheon International Airport, and military facilities. This generative AI system enhances real-time disaster and security monitoring through CCTV analysis, providing automatic alerts and proactive risk assessment, a critical advancement following recent incidents like the NIRS fire.

SEOUL, South Korea – In a significant move to enhance public safety and operational resilience, LAON PEOPLE announced on September 29, 2025, the successful deployment of its advanced artificial intelligence (AI) based one-stop integrated control solution, ‘Odin AI,’ across multiple Korean government agencies. This deployment comes as the importance of robust disaster response systems within public institutions has been underscored by recent events, notably the fire at the National Information Resources Service (NIRS).

Odin AI is a sophisticated generative AI solution designed to analyze and identify critical events in real-time from closed-circuit (CCTV) footage. Its capabilities include detecting flames, heat, and smoke, and subsequently providing automatic alerts to relevant authorities. Beyond mere detection, the system is engineered to analyze the specific type of situation, relaying detailed information to administrators or fire authorities to facilitate swift and appropriate action. Furthermore, Odin AI is capable of proactively analyzing risk types before an incident occurs, thereby enabling preventative measures.

Recognized for its robust strengths, Odin AI has been operational since last year at the Yongsan District Office in Seoul, where it performs complex detection tasks such as fire and smoke identification. Its application has expanded to other critical locations, including Incheon International Airport and various military facilities, where it is utilized for crime and risk control, crowd density analysis, and secure area detection. The solution’s reach extends beyond domestic borders, with LAON PEOPLE having provided Odin AI to Thailand as a customized solution for disaster and flood detection.

The urgency for such advanced systems was highlighted by the fire that erupted at NIRS on September 26, 2025, at approximately 8:15 p.m. The incident, which occurred during work to disconnect a lithium-ion battery for an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) from a server, resulted in a complete extinguishment a day later. However, the impact was substantial, with only 62 of the government’s 647 services fully restored as of noon the following day. An industry official emphasized the critical need for such technologies, stating, “If an accident occurs at a facility where major information systems are concentrated, the scope of damage to administration, security, and data management is large, making recovery difficult. It is important to introduce proven AI technologies for prevention.” LAON PEOPLE’s Odin AI represents a significant step forward in addressing these complex challenges through intelligent, proactive monitoring and response.
