Prasar Bharati Collaborates with Collective Media Network to Introduce India’s Pioneering AI Band, Trilok, to National Audiences

TLDR: Prasar Bharati, India’s public service broadcaster, has partnered with Collective Media Network to bring Trilok, the nation’s first AI-powered band, to millions of viewers and listeners across its extensive network, including Akashvani, Doordarshan, and WAVES OTT. This collaboration marks a significant step in showcasing content created with generative AI tools, blending traditional Indian spiritual themes with modern musical innovation.

Prasar Bharati, India’s esteemed public service broadcaster, has announced a landmark strategic partnership with Collective Media Network to introduce ‘Trilok,’ India’s first-ever AI-powered band, to a nationwide audience. This collaboration aims to make Trilok’s unique musical projects accessible to millions through Akashvani, Doordarshan channels, and WAVES OTT, Prasar Bharati’s digital streaming platform. The initiative represents a significant embrace of generative AI tools in large-scale content creation, fusing traditional Indian culture with cutting-edge technological innovation.

Trilok, developed in-house by Collective’s AI innovation lab, is designed to blend spiritual tradition with contemporary rock rhythms. The band draws inspiration from Indian spiritual roots, reimagining chants, mantras, and motifs into high-voltage, emotion-fueled soundscapes powered entirely by artificial intelligence. While AI is central to Trilok’s creation, the human element remains crucial, with individuals behind the scenes using technology to make songs ‘faster, bigger, better.’

Recently, Trilok has released notable projects that exemplify this fusion. ‘Rupam Dehi,’ a musical tribute to Goddess Durga inspired by the Argalastotra chant, features visuals of Kolkata’s Durga Puja celebrations, weaving together ritual, visual poetry, and AI composition. The band has also reimagined the classic Ganesh aarti ‘Sukhkarta Dukhharta,’ layering modern textures over the hymn to resonate with younger listeners while preserving its devotional essence.

These programs are slated for nationwide broadcast on Akashvani and Doordarshan channels, ensuring extensive reach across India, and will also be available on WAVES OTT for digital audiences both domestically and internationally. This marks a pioneering effort by Prasar Bharati to showcase content created using generative AI tools, bringing a unique blend of tradition and innovation to its vast audience.

Vijay Subramaniam, Founder and Group CEO of Collective Artists Network, commented on the partnership, stating, ‘Our vision at Collective has always been to build India’s cultural exports for the world, and this partnership with Prasar Bharati takes us closer to that mission. In many ways, this is ‘pragati’ and ‘bhakti’ coming together – progress and faith in harmony, shaping how India tells its stories for generations to come. By bringing music from Trilok to every corner of the country, we are combining the power of technology with the depth of Indian culture and traditions.’ Gaurav Dwivedi, CEO, Prasar Bharati, added that Prasar Bharati has consistently worked to ensure Indian audiences have access to diverse content.

Subramaniam further elaborated on the philosophy behind Trilok, noting that the idea stemmed from a simple insight: why hasn’t technology been used to enhance creativity? He emphasized that in the debate of AI for or against human creativity, he believes technology should be a friend that fuels creativity. The band’s debut single, ‘Achyutam Keshavam,’ was launched earlier, accompanied by stylized visual teasers introducing the band’s AI personas, highlighting that Trilok is not just about music but also about sparking discovery, community, and conversation across platforms.
