TLDR: MIT Sloan Executive Education has launched a new two-day course, ‘AI Essentials: Accelerating Impactful Adoption,’ aimed at equipping executives and senior managers with the strategic understanding and frameworks needed to effectively integrate AI technologies within their organizations. The program, scheduled for December 10-11, 2025, focuses on AI literacy, ethical considerations, and practical application for business growth.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – MIT Sloan Executive Education announced today the introduction of its new program, ‘AI Essentials: Accelerating Impactful Adoption,’ designed to empower non-technical leaders with the knowledge and strategies necessary to navigate the rapidly evolving landscape of artificial intelligence. The two-day intensive course, set to take place on the MIT Campus from December 10-11, 2025, addresses the critical need for executives and senior managers to move beyond pilot projects and drive meaningful AI integration across their enterprises.
The curriculum combines cutting-edge research-based insights with real-world business examples and hands-on action learning activities. It is specifically tailored for senior leaders aiming to enhance their AI fluency, non-technical managers involved in innovation and strategy, business professionals seeking strategic AI insights without deep technical dives, and cross-functional leaders across diverse sectors such as finance, healthcare, retail, manufacturing, education, and government.
Paul McDonagh-Smith, Visiting Senior Lecturer in Information Technology at MIT’s Sloan School of Management, highlighted the program’s importance, stating, ‘AI is reshaping industries, but many organizations are still struggling to move beyond pilot projects. Leaders must be able to bridge the gap between technical capacity and business reality to develop the frameworks, language, and confidence to integrate AI thoughtfully and strategically across their organizations.’ McDonagh-Smith co-leads the course alongside Roberto Fernandez, William F. Pounds Professor in Management, and Barbara Wixom, Principal Research Scientist at the MIT Center for Information Systems Research (CISR), complemented by other distinguished MIT faculty.
Key takeaways for participants include cultivating a mindset to leverage AI as a catalyst for business growth, fostering an AI-ready culture that prioritizes trust and transparency, articulating current AI capabilities in plain language, and developing and leading AI projects from inception to implementation while understanding common pitfalls and success factors. The course also covers best practices in AI governance, ethics, and regulatory compliance, ensuring alignment of AI initiatives with broader business strategies.
The program delves into the AI landscape, its transformative potential across business functions, and the crucial role of data in AI-driven decision-making. Ethical, regulatory, and governance considerations, including bias, privacy, transparency, and responsible AI adoption, are thoroughly explored. Day two focuses on accelerating AI transformation, teaching participants to design AI strategies aligned with organizational goals, integrate AI into enterprise processes, and cultivate a culture supportive of AI acceptance. It also highlights current AI tools and emerging frontiers such as generative AI, multimodal AI, agentic AI, and AGI (artificial general intelligence), providing practical perspectives relevant to various organizations.
The capstone session empowers leaders to translate their learning into actionable strategies by creating AI adoption roadmaps, defining value metrics, and practicing decision-making in AI-driven scenarios. The two-day in-person course, held in Cambridge, MA, requires a commitment of 8 hours per day and has a tuition of $5,500.
