The Department of Media and Communication at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) is set to host a significant International Conference on AI-Empowered Communication and Global Innovation on September 18-19, 2025. This two-day event will bring together renowned scholars and industry experts to delve into the multifaceted implications of artificial intelligence across various domains of communication and society.
The conference program is structured around several key themes, with ‘AI and Societal Transformation: Navigating Policy, Cultural Impacts, and Global Challenges’ being a central focus of Speaker Session 3 on Day 1. This session, scheduled for 14:00 – 15:40 on September 18, will be moderated by Prof. Edmund Lee, Associate Professor at CityUHK’s Department of Media and Communication.

The conference will commence with opening remarks from key CityUHK figures, including Prof. Chun-Sing Lee (Provost and Deputy President), Prof. Alfred Ho (Dean, College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences), and Prof. Yi-Hui Christine Huang (Head, Department of Media and Communication).
Other notable sessions include ‘The State of AI in Communication: Key Trends, Challenges, and Emerging Possibilities’ and ‘Methodological Innovation in the AI Era: Computational & Cognitive Methods’ on Day 1. Day 2 will feature roundtables on ‘Industry’s Insights on AI and Media Innovation’ and ‘Reimagining Communication Innovation in the Age of AI: Global Perspectives and Beyond’, along with a roundtable with top journal editors focusing on ‘International Impact and Local Innovation in Chinese Communication Journals’.
