TLDR: Barcelona-based startup Altan has successfully raised $2.5 million in pre-seed funding to advance its ‘agent-native’ platform. This platform leverages AI agents to enable individuals and businesses, regardless of their technical expertise, to autonomously design, build, and operate production-ready software. The funding will support team expansion, technical enhancements, and global user base scaling, with a vision to create fully autonomous companies.
Barcelona, Spain – Altan, an innovative startup based in Barcelona, has announced a significant milestone, securing $2.5 million in pre-seed funding. This capital injection is earmarked to propel the development and expansion of its groundbreaking ‘agent-native’ platform, which aims to democratize software creation through advanced AI agents.
The funding round was co-led by prominent venture capital firms VentureFriends and JME Ventures, with additional participation from 4Founders Ventures and a consortium of angel investors. These investors include executives from leading companies such as ElevenLabs, Remotely, Doctoralia, Yaba, and vLex, underscoring strong industry confidence in Altan’s vision.
Founded in 2024 by childhood friends Albert Salgueda (CEO) and Tristán Pou (CTO), Altan was established to address a critical gap in the market: the abundance of innovative ideas contrasted with a scarcity of technical expertise required to bring them to fruition. Albert Salgueda, co-founder and CEO, articulated the company’s mission, stating, “Less than 1% of the world knows how to code. But 100% of the world has ideas.” He further elaborated that Altan empowers anyone “to bring any idea to reality. Not in the form of a mockup, but with the full power of software and AI.”
Altan’s platform distinguishes itself from traditional prototyping tools by focusing on delivering production-ready applications that can scale. Lily Joo from VentureFriends highlighted this capability, noting that “Altan is delivering something the no-code movement previously achieved — production-ready applications that scale.” Samuel Gil from JME Ventures echoed this sentiment, adding that “Altan is not a prototype tool; it’s a platform which can create production-ready, ‘turnkey’ software.”
The platform’s comprehensive automation extends beyond initial development, encompassing infrastructure configuration and autonomous operation workflows. For instance, it can enable a restaurant to launch a website, integrate automated booking systems, establish customer databases, and deploy AI agents to manage reservations and confirmations. Users initiate software creation by describing their vision through text or voice, after which the platform assembles specialized AI agents, including autonomous full-stack engineers, UX designers, and product managers, to execute the project.
Since its launch, Altan has rapidly gained traction, attracting over 25,000 builders and businesses. A notable success story includes Julius Kopp, a non-technical founder who, within 60 days of utilizing Altan, established a software company generating $10,000 in monthly recurring revenue.

The newly secured funding will be instrumental in expanding Altan’s team, enhancing its technical capabilities, and scaling its user base globally. The company’s ambitious long-term vision involves fostering the creation of fully autonomous companies capable of launching and operating independently, without direct human intervention. Salgueda concluded with a bold statement on the future of software: “We believe that software will change forever with AI. Static software made by humans for humans was pre-AI. Custom software made by agents for agents is the future, and Altan is the first platform built for it.” The seven-member founding team, comprising serial entrepreneurs, Cambridge and MIT graduates, and former Meta engineers, is strategically positioned to lead this transformation in software development through artificial intelligence.
