Uniphore Bolsters AI Automation Portfolio with Acquisitions of Orby AI and Autonom8

TLDR: Uniphore Technologies Inc. has acquired two startups, Orby AI Inc. and Autonom8 Inc., to significantly enhance its artificial intelligence-driven automation capabilities. The acquisitions aim to integrate advanced AI agents and low-code workflow automation into Uniphore’s existing platform, bringing in specialized talent including former Google DeepMind researchers.

Palo Alto, California-based Uniphore Technologies Inc., a prominent provider of artificial intelligence applications for enterprises, announced today the acquisition of Orby AI Inc. and Autonom8 Inc. These strategic moves are set to expand Uniphore’s offerings in automating repetitive business tasks and developing sophisticated AI agents. While the financial terms of the deals were not disclosed, Uniphore was last valued at $2.5 billion following a $400 million funding round in 2022.

Uniphore’s platform is renowned for enabling enterprises to build AI applications, serving major tech firms like HP Inc. and Docusign Inc. A key feature of its platform is its ability to make data from internal systems accessible to AI models without requiring data movement, thereby saving time and resources. It also facilitates the automatic conversion of collected information into AI training datasets and supports retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) mechanisms for pre-trained AI models. The platform further offers a no-code interface for users to integrate their algorithms into AI agents.

The acquisition of Orby AI is specifically aimed at bolstering Uniphore’s agent development features. Orby AI has developed a tool that leverages AI agents to automate business tasks, particularly excelling in interactions with graphical user interfaces. Notably, Orby’s agents utilize a neuro-symbolic AI model, which combines elements of large language models (LLMs) with symbolic AI. This hybrid approach is reported to be less prone to hallucinations compared to standard AI algorithms.

Autonom8, the second startup acquired, brings a powerful software toolkit that allows business users to create automation workflows through a low-code editor. Autonom8’s applications are capable of personalizing output for different users and enable administrators to establish guardrails to ensure output aligns with project requirements. The company’s platform is currently utilized across various sectors, including financial services, healthcare, and education.
