Intel Vision 2025: New Leadership Charts Course for Customer-Centric Innovation and AI Future

Las Vegas, NV – Intel Vision 2025, held in April, marked a pivotal moment for the semiconductor giant as newly appointed CEO Lip-Bu Tan outlined a comprehensive strategy aimed at revitalizing the company’s leadership through a relentless focus on customer success, engineering prowess, and collaborative innovation. The event, attended by over 700 customers and partners, served as a declaration of Intel’s resurgence under Tan’s guidance.

Tan’s keynote set a clear tone, emphasizing a ‘customer-first strategy’ and urging ‘brutally honest’ feedback from clients. He articulated his vision, stating, “Greatness, true greatness, your greatness… it’s here inside, inside all of us, inside you,” underscoring a commitment to delighting customers. This sentiment was echoed by Michelle Johnston Holthaus, CEO of Intel Products, who affirmed, “Everything we do starts and ends with you – our customers. We are laser-focused on understanding your biggest challenges, your needs and most important, your opportunities … then innovating to design world-class products and solutions that help you accelerate your businesses.” Christoph Schell, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, reinforced this by declaring, “It is our No. 1 job to make you successful.”

A cornerstone of Intel’s renewed strategy is its deep dive into Artificial Intelligence (AI). Tan highlighted AI’s transformative role across computing, content creation, and the physical world, advocating for a ‘software 2.0’ mentality that prioritizes application workload-focused product design. The company’s product roadmap is being recalibrated to deliver AI performance across the full stack, from client devices to the cloud. Key product announcements and updates included the Intel 18A process, which remains on track for high-volume production in the second half of 2025, notably with the Panther Lake client computing processor.

Intel also reaffirmed its commitment to the x86 architecture while embracing the chiplet revolution. Tan underscored that chiplets are the future of semiconductor innovation, enabling highly customized solutions and reducing costs. Intel is actively promoting this through the Universal Chiplet Interconnect Express (UCIe) consortium. Furthermore, the IDM 2.0 strategy, combining internal manufacturing, external foundry partnerships, and Intel Foundry Services (IFS), was highlighted as crucial for maintaining a competitive edge and a secure supply chain. IFS aims to become the foundry of choice for the AI era, offering specialized capabilities for next-generation AI chips.

Strategic partnerships are a force multiplier in Intel’s vision. The company is actively collaborating with software providers like Microsoft, Google, and VMware to optimize software for Intel hardware, and with cloud service providers. A significant announcement at the event was the general availability of Intel Gaudi 3 AI accelerators on IBM Cloud, initially in Frankfurt, Germany, and Washington, D.C., with plans for expansion to Dallas, TX, in Q2 2025. The combination of Lunar Lake, Panther Lake, the Xeon 6 family, and Gaudi 3 forms the backbone of Intel’s core CPU and AI accelerator product strategy.
