TLDR: VergeIO, a leader in ultraconverged infrastructure and a prominent VMware alternative, has been awarded ‘Best of Show’ at the 19th Annual FMS Awards. The company was specifically recognized as the ‘Most Innovative Startup Company’ for its groundbreaking AI-ready infrastructure, which integrates compute, storage, and networking into a single, memory-optimized operating environment.
ANN ARBOR, Mich. – VergeIO, a trailblazer in ultraconverged infrastructure (UCI) and a compelling alternative to VMware, has achieved significant industry recognition, securing the ‘Best of Show’ award at the 19th Annual FMS Awards. The company was specifically lauded as the ‘Most Innovative Startup Company’ for its innovative AI-ready infrastructure, a testament to its advancements in memory and storage technologies.
The FMS (Future of Memory and Storage) 2025 event, held from August 5-7 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Silicon Valley, is renowned as the world’s largest industry conference and exhibition in this sector. The ‘Best of Show’ awards program acknowledges companies and their solutions as innovative leaders across various categories in memory and storage technologies.
Jay Kramer, Chair of the Awards Program and President of Network Storage Advisors Inc., highlighted VergeIO’s achievement, stating, “We are proud to recognize VergeIO as the most innovative startup company for bringing to market a fully integrated, AI-ready infrastructure which merges compute, storage and networking into a single memory optimized operating environment. This represents an entirely new class of infrastructure software for memory, storage and compute.”
VergeIO’s ultraconverged infrastructure (UCI) distinguishes itself from traditional hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) by collapsing the entire IT stack—virtualization, storage, and networking—into an integrated data center operating environment known as VergeOS. This approach significantly enhances efficiency, enabling greater workload density on existing hardware, improving data resiliency, and leading to dramatically lower costs, enhanced availability, and simplified IT management.
Crucially, VergeIO’s winning solution is designed with artificial intelligence at its core. It includes VergeHV, an AI-optimized hypervisor that offers direct GPU access; VergeFabric, a software-defined networking solution tailored for high-throughput AI clusters; and VergeIQ, which facilitates the creation of isolated Virtual Data Centers (VDCs) for secure, private, and scalable management and execution of AI models.
Yan Ness, CEO of VergeIO, expressed his gratitude for the recognition: “Recognition of a job well done – whether it’s by industry experts, partners or your customers – is always a validating experience. In winning Most Innovative Startup Company at this year’s FMS Awards, we have earned acknowledgement as a leader of storage technology that showcases our capabilities in delivering reduced costs, improved agility and increased performance for critical workloads. All of us at VergeIO look forward to continuing our mission to simplifying and improving IT infrastructures.”
