TLDR: Amazon Web Services (AWS) has commenced its two-day Taiwan summit in Taipei, highlighting the critical role of cloud services in the era of artificial intelligence. The event features discussions on generative AI, machine learning, data analysis, and cloud infrastructure, with AWS executives underscoring the symbiotic relationship between AI and cloud technology.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) launched its two-day Taiwan summit on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, in Taipei, bringing together cloud computing professionals and industry leaders. The summit, held at the Nangang Exhibition Center, focuses on the transformative power of cloud services, particularly in the context of artificial intelligence.
Wang Ding-kai (王定愷), Managing Director for Hong Kong and Taiwan at AWS, delivered a keynote speech emphasizing the indispensable nature of cloud services for AI development. “We believe there is no AI without the cloud,” Wang stated, adding that “If the network is turned off, many generative AI tools cannot be used; without the support of the cloud, the capabilities of edge computing will be very limited.”
The first day of the summit covered a wide array of topics, including generative AI, machine learning, data analysis, cloud infrastructure, migration strategies, information security, and various industry applications across the Asia-Pacific region. Wang advised companies to prioritize establishing effective business models before making substantial investments in costly equipment, citing significant amortization risks.
AWS’s long-standing collaboration with AI chip giant Nvidia was also highlighted, with Wang noting their 14-year partnership in building AI infrastructure using servers like the GB200. This collaboration aims to facilitate faster model inference and more effective AI agent applications. Furthermore, Amazon’s extensive use of automation was mentioned, with the company currently managing one million robots in its global warehouses.

Looking ahead, Amazon aims to achieve full service automation through the integration of generative AI, which is expected to reduce power consumption and carbon emissions. Another significant initiative discussed was Amazon’s low-Earth orbit satellite project, which plans to launch 3,232 satellites over the next six years to establish a global wireless broadband network. The AWS Summit in Taipei is one of several such events held globally, with upcoming summits scheduled for Mexico City, Jakarta, and São Paulo.
