TLDR: Microsoft is rolling out a suite of new artificial intelligence (AI) features to Windows 11 Copilot+ PCs, with an initial focus on Snapdragon-powered devices. Key updates include an AI agent in Settings for natural language commands, ‘Click to Do’ for contextual actions, and ‘Photo Relight’ in the Photos app for advanced image lighting. Additional AI-powered tools like a Sticker Generator in Paint and enhanced Snipping Tool functionalities are also part of this significant update, aiming to make Windows more intuitive and efficient.
Microsoft has commenced a phased rollout of a comprehensive set of new artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities for Windows 11, specifically targeting its Copilot+ PCs. These enhancements, previously available to Windows Insiders, are now being gradually introduced to general users through a controlled feature rollout (CFR) and non-security preview updates, as of July 23, 2025.
The initial wave of these AI features is prioritizing Copilot+ PCs equipped with Snapdragon chipsets, with Microsoft confirming that support for Intel and AMD-powered devices will follow at a later date. This strategic rollout underscores the company’s commitment to leveraging on-device AI for a more responsive and integrated user experience.
Among the most notable additions is an AI Agent in Settings. This innovative feature allows users to interact with Windows Settings using natural language commands. For instance, users can simply type requests like ‘connect Bluetooth device’ or ‘change my resolution to 1920×1080’ into the Settings search box, and the AI agent, powered by Microsoft’s on-device Mu AI model, will autonomously execute the action or provide direct options. This functionality operates offline, enhancing privacy and speed.
Another significant improvement is Click to Do (Preview), which provides contextual actions based on selected text or images. Users can activate this feature via various methods, including ‘Win + Click’, ‘Win + Q’, the Snipping Tool, pen gestures, or touchscreen swipes. New actions include ‘Practice in Reading Coach’ for pronunciation feedback, ‘Read with Immersive Reader’ for distraction-free reading, ‘Draft with Copilot in Word’ to generate document drafts from selected text, and direct Microsoft Teams integrations for messaging or scheduling meetings.
The Photos app receives a powerful new ‘Relight’ feature, enabling users to add professional-grade lighting to any image. This AI-powered tool allows for the simulation of up to three virtual light sources, with customizable position, intensity, color, and softness. Users can also choose from various presets, such as ‘Studio Portrait’ and ‘Cinematic Glow’, to quickly achieve desired effects.
Creative tools are also getting an AI boost. The Paint app now includes a Sticker Generator, which leverages AI to create custom stickers from text prompts, and a smart object selection feature. The Snipping Tool is enhanced with a ‘Perfect screenshot’ capability that can auto-crop to windows or other selections, alongside a handy ‘Color picker’ utility.
Furthermore, Copilot Vision is rolling out, allowing users to share their entire screen with Copilot for real-time on-screen assistance. This feature is available on all Windows 11 PCs, not just Copilot+ PCs, and currently requires the PC language to be set to English (US). It does not necessitate a Copilot Pro subscription.
Other minor but impactful updates include ‘Edge Game Assist’, a mini-web browser within Game Bar for in-game help, and ‘Quick machine recovery’, which aims to reduce unexpected restart wait times and changes the Blue Screen of Death (BSoD) to black.
