SHENZHEN, China – vivo, a leading global technology company, has been distinguished with the prestigious ‘Innovate for Impact’ Use Case Award in the accessibility category at the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) AI for Good Global Summit. The award, presented on July 9, 2025, in Geneva, Switzerland, acknowledges vivo’s groundbreaking initiative, ‘On-Device Intelligence Empowers People with Disabilities and Smart Interaction Scenarios,’ which utilizes on-device artificial intelligence (AI) to significantly improve accessibility.
The AI for Good Global Summit, a premier international platform for dialogue and collaboration on AI, is organized by the ITU in partnership with over 40 United Nations organizations, including UNIDO and UNESCO. This year’s ‘Innovate for Impact’ challenge saw 51 AI-driven use cases recognized from a total of 238 submissions originating from 32 countries, underscoring the competitive and impactful nature of vivo’s achievement.
During the award ceremony, certificates were jointly presented to the winning companies and institutions by Mr. Wei Wei, Director-General of the Department of Science and Technology at China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and Dr. Bilel Jamoussi, Deputy Director of ITU’s Telecommunication Standardization Bureau.
Cao Yuqiong, Senior Director of Software Industry Development at vivo, delivered a compelling keynote address titled ‘AI Expanding Human Perception Seeing, Hearing, Understanding Everything.’ In her speech, Cao reiterated vivo’s overarching vision of ‘Technology for a Better Future’ and showcased several of the company’s key accessibility innovations, including ‘vivo Seeing’ and other features designed to foster a more equitable digital world.

In May 2025, vivo, in collaboration with the China Disabled Persons Welfare Foundation, hosted a conference for the ‘vivo Voice for Hope Initiative – Special Action on Technology for the Disabled.’ During this event, vivo pledged a significant investment of RMB 30 million over the next five years to explore and develop innovative solutions aimed at enabling barrier-free lives for individuals with disabilities. To date, vivo’s products and services have reached over 500 million users across 60 countries and regions globally, with its accessibility features directly benefiting more than 4 million users.
