Fujitsu’s AI-Driven Supply Chain Optimization Solution Earns World Economic Forum Recognition

Kawasaki, Japan – July 14, 2025 – Fujitsu Limited today announced that its advanced AI-powered solution for optimizing global supply chains has been selected by the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) AI Governance Alliance. The solution, which leverages specialized AI agents, was highlighted as one of 18 global advanced AI solutions transforming business operations, underscoring its significant impact and real-world applicability.

The recognition comes as part of the WEF’s MINDS Programme (Meaningful, Intelligent, Novel, Deployable Solutions), an initiative launched to spotlight AI applications already delivering tangible results across critical sectors. Fujitsu’s solution was chosen from hundreds of applications by an independent, cross-industry group of AI leaders, with selection based on implemented cases that have achieved concrete results.

Developed on the ‘Fujitsu Data Intelligence PaaS (DI PaaS)’ all-in-one operation platform, offered under the Fujitsu Uvance business model, the solution is designed to address societal issues by transforming inventory management and ordering operations within the supply chain. It also supports advanced management decision-making. A core component is the ‘Fujitsu Kozuchi AutoML’ AI service, which rapidly generates high-precision machine learning models, capable of creating dozens of demand forecasting models in minutes from automatically gathered and ordered data using a knowledge graph.

The system employs multiple AI agents, each specialized for tasks such such as procurement, inventory, production, and sales. These agents provide real-time alerts for inventory shortages or excess stock and propose countermeasures, including changing suppliers or reallocating inventory. An orchestrator agent then selects the optimal option by balancing cost, lead time, and risk, while an evaluator agent assesses its validity, enabling users to take swift, informed actions based on AI-generated proposals.

Simulations have demonstrated the solution’s profound impact. In a scenario involving a major company with approximately US$10 billion in annual sales, the solution showed an estimated reduction in annual inventory management costs by about US$15 million and a cut in unnecessary inventory stock by approximately US$20 million. Furthermore, it reduced work hours by over 50%. The system also proved capable of carrying out an operating profit impact assessment following a simulated natural disaster within just three hours of its occurrence.

Fujitsu provides this solution primarily to manufacturing customers grappling with inventory management challenges, aiming to enhance supply chain efficiency and resilience. The company emphasizes its commitment to assisting customers in making optimal decisions to swiftly respond to unforeseen events, including geopolitical risks, natural disasters, and market fluctuations. As Fujitsu stated in its launch announcement, “Our goal is to ensure that even in unpredictable scenarios, our customers can continue operating smoothly.” Moving forward, Fujitsu plans to continue leveraging Decision Intelligence, integrating data and AI to strengthen sustainability amidst supply chain uncertainty, thereby advancing both corporate value creation and social contribution.
