TLDR: Shiprocket has launched Shunya.ai, a new multimodal AI engine designed specifically for India’s Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) businesses. Developed in partnership with Ultrasafe Inc. and hosted entirely within India, Shunya.ai integrates voice, text, and image intelligence across over nine Indian languages. It aims to significantly reduce time and cost in cataloging, marketing, fulfillment, and customer engagement, with early pilots showing 30-40% time savings in content creation. The platform is projected to reach over 100,000 MSMEs within its first year, supporting India’s rapidly growing digital commerce and MSME economy.
New Delhi, July 11, 2025 – Shiprocket, a leading e-commerce enablement platform, today announced the launch of Shunya.ai, a groundbreaking multimodal Artificial Intelligence (AI) engine tailored to revolutionize operations for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) businesses across India.
Developed through a joint venture with U.S.-based Ultrasafe Inc., Shunya.ai stands out as India’s first sovereign multimodal AI stack. It integrates voice, text, and image intelligence capabilities, supporting over nine Indian languages. Crucially, the entire platform is built, trained, and hosted within India, aligning with the nation’s growing emphasis on digital sovereignty and data localization. The AI models have been exclusively trained on Indian commerce data and leverage Larsen & Toubro’s GPU-powered infrastructure, Cloudfiniti, to manage AI workloads and ensure data integrity.
Shunya.ai is designed to be directly embedded into Shiprocket’s seller panel, providing its extensive base of over 1.5 lakh (150,000) sellers with instant access to advanced tools. Its functionalities include bilingual product listings, automated ad creatives, GST-compliant invoices, WhatsApp voice-to-order automation, Image-to-alt-text SEO optimization, and personalized sale recommendations. Early pilot programs of the large language model (LLM) have already demonstrated significant efficiency gains, with approximately 30-40% time savings in catalogue and content creation, thereby improving speed-to-market for MSMEs.
Saahil Goel, MD & CEO of Shiprocket, emphasized the platform’s localized approach, stating, “This is not just AI made in India; it’s AI made for India. We’ve adapted Shunya.ai from the ground up for Indian languages, commerce workflows, and MSME needs. By embedding it directly into our platform, we’re giving over 1.5 lakh sellers instant access to tools that are intelligent, local, and scalable, leveling the playing field for businesses across Bharat.” He further added, “At Shiprocket, we believe the future of commerce will be built on inclusivity, data, and agility where every seller, regardless of size or location, can thrive in an AI-native, hyperlocal ecosystem.”
The launch of Shunya.ai is a strategic move by Shiprocket to tap into India’s robust MSME economy, valued at $1 trillion, and the burgeoning digital commerce opportunity, projected to reach $350 billion by 2030. MSMEs currently contribute over 30% to the country’s Gross Value Added (GVA). According to a report released by Shiprocket in collaboration with KPMG, India’s D2C market, home to over 11,000 brands, is projected to hit $100 billion by 2025. The e-retail market size is estimated at $125 billion in 2025, with 220 million online shoppers.

Shiprocket aims for Shunya.ai to reach over 1 lakh (100,000) MSMEs within its first year, driving substantial time and cost savings across various workflows. This initiative also marks Shiprocket’s evolution from a purely digital e-commerce enabler to a full-scale commerce platform. Goel articulated this broader vision: “Until now, Shiprocket has primarily served digital-first merchants… But the next phase of our journey lies beyond just e-commerce. We’re now turning our focus to the 20 million offline merchants across India… to become a full-spectrum commerce enabler—not just an e-commerce operator.” This strategic pivot underscores Shiprocket’s commitment to empowering both online and offline merchants with AI-led solutions and hyperlocal delivery capabilities.
