Dollar General Appoints Travis Nixon as Senior Vice President of AI Optimization to Drive Efficiency and Innovation

Dollar General (NYSE: DG) has announced a significant strategic appointment, naming Travis Nixon as its Senior Vice President of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Optimization. This newly established position, effective around November 2025, highlights the retailer’s intensified focus on leveraging advanced technologies to enhance its operational framework and customer engagement.

Nixon’s primary mandate will be to spearhead Dollar General’s business process management initiatives, integrating AI and machine learning to identify and implement chainwide optimization opportunities. His responsibilities will span critical areas including merchandising, supply chain management, and in-store operations. The overarching goal is to streamline processes, eliminate inefficiencies, reduce waste, and ultimately improve outcomes for both customers and employees.

Steve Deckard, Dollar General’s Executive Vice President of Strategy and Development, emphasized the importance of this appointment. “At a time when our customers rely on us more than ever, we’re excited to welcome Travis and his transformative AI leadership to streamline operations and enhance the experience for Dollar General employees and customers,” Deckard stated. Travis Nixon brings a wealth of experience to Dollar General, with over a decade of leadership in AI and machine learning. Most recently, he served as the Head of AI for Dropbox’s Security Division, where he was instrumental in transitioning the company towards an AI-driven operating model. His impressive career also includes significant roles such as Meta’s Head of Measurement and Understanding and Microsoft’s Chief Data Scientist for Financial Services. Additionally, Nixon has contributed to the AI strategy of SynerAI as a board member since 2020, focusing on stock market insights. He holds a B.S. in Economics from Brigham Young University and an MBA from the University of Virginia.
