SAN FRANCISCO – fal, a prominent generative media platform catering to developers, announced today its acquisition of Remade, a Y Combinator-backed startup focused on AI-native tools for creative and design professionals. This acquisition, fal’s first since its inception in 2021, is set to bolster its offerings in the rapidly evolving generative media landscape.
fal, co-founded by engineers Burkay Gur and Gorkem Yurtseven, provides AI developer teams with seamless API access to over 600 image, video, and audio models, all powered by serverless GPU infrastructure. The company has demonstrated significant growth, being one of 33 U.S. artificial intelligence firms to secure over US$100 million in funding in 2025. Its impressive client roster includes industry giants like Adobe, Canva, Perplexity, and Shopify. In February 2025, fal surpassed 100 million generative media requests daily, maintaining an API uptime of 99.99%.
Remade, founded in 2024 by four Cambridge University computer science graduates – Blendi Bylygbashi, Christos Antonopoulos, Alex Matthews, and Rehan Sheikh – quickly established itself by developing an AI-native workspace. This platform offers design and marketing teams a unified interface to leverage the latest image and video generation models. Remade’s technology has already powered millions of generations, with its open-sourced Wan 2.1 Video LoRAs accumulating over 250,000 downloads, becoming a popular endpoint within fal’s ecosystem.
Christos Antonopoulos, co-founder and CEO of Remade, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, “While building Remade, it was clear how valuable fal was to the generative media ecosystem. When we started talking with Burkay, it was incredible to listen to his vision for the future of generative media and how we could partner together to accelerate it.”
