While some sources indicate the initial count was as high as 4.8 million pages, the figure of 885,000 articles is widely cited across various reports. The content creation process is entirely AI-driven, with articles generated and ‘fact-checked’ by the Grok model itself. Notably, some initial articles have been observed to be derived from Wikipedia, with instances of nearly verbatim copying.
Grokipedia’s launch was not without its challenges, experiencing a ‘rocky start’ and briefly going offline hours after its initial debut before returning to availability.
