Female characters were often described with terms related to beauty, grace, delicacy, and physical vulnerability, paired with psychological traits like resilience, empathy, and wisdom. Male characters, especially villains, helpers, and dispatchers, were characterized by strength, ruggedness, or physical irregularities (scars, deformities), often symbolizing aggression or wisdom. Male desired characters were sometimes portrayed with emotional exhaustion or vulnerability. This suggests that while female characters are often idealized aesthetically, male characters are given a broader, though often polarized, descriptive range.

Character Actions: The study found a clear gendered architecture of narrative agency. Female Main Characters engaged in exploratory, resistant, and transformative actions, demonstrating autonomy and moral complexity. Male Main Characters were associated with acts of traversal, repair, and heroic confrontation, focusing on external, action-oriented interventions. Even when female characters were protagonists, the classic “male savior” trope frequently reappeared. For instance, in some Gemini stories with female Main Characters, a male character still ended up rescuing the female. Claude’s stories, often crime thrillers, showed female Main Characters as guardians, but male characters typically intervened in physical confrontations. The study noted that simply changing the gender of the protagonist isn’t enough to dismantle deeper narrative stereotypes.
