TLDR: This paper introduces DL-NOMA-CSK, a deep learning-assisted communication system designed for secure and efficient multi-user vehicular networks. It features a DNN-based demodulator that learns chaotic signal characteristics offline, eliminating the need for reference signals and synchronization, thereby boosting spectral and energy efficiency. The system utilizes dual-domain feature extraction (time and frequency) and integrates the DNN with Successive Interference Cancellation (SIC) to improve performance and mitigate errors. Simulations confirm superior spectral efficiency, energy efficiency, bit error rate, security, and robustness with lower complexity compared to existing methods.
The rapid advancement of autonomous driving technologies and intelligent transportation systems has significantly increased the demand for robust vehicular communication. However, the open nature of wireless channels makes these systems vulnerable to security threats, while simultaneously requiring efficient multi-user data exchange.
Traditional multi-user chaotic communication systems, particularly those relying on non-coherent detection, often suffer from low spectral efficiency because they need to transmit reference signals. Furthermore, conventional orthogonal multiple access (OMA) schemes limit the number of users that can connect simultaneously. While non-orthogonal schemes like Sparse Code Multiple Access (SCMA)-based Differential Chaos Shift Keying (DCSK) have been explored, they typically involve high computational complexity and lack flexible scalability due to their fixed codebook designs.
To overcome these challenges, researchers have proposed a novel system: Dual-Domain Deep Learning-Assisted Power Domain Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access Chaos Shift Keying (DL-NOMA-CSK) for vehicular communications. This innovative approach integrates deep learning with non-orthogonal multiple access to enhance security and efficiency.
A key feature of the DL-NOMA-CSK system is its deep neural network (DNN)-based demodulator. This demodulator is designed to learn the intrinsic characteristics of chaotic signals during an offline training phase. This crucial step eliminates the need for chaotic synchronization or the transmission of reference signals during live operation, which significantly improves spectral efficiency and reduces the complexity of the transmitter.
The demodulator employs a unique dual-domain feature extraction architecture. This means it can jointly process both the time-domain and frequency-domain information of chaotic signals. This comprehensive approach enhances feature learning, making the system more robust and effective even under the dynamic channel conditions commonly found in vehicular environments.
Furthermore, the DNN is seamlessly integrated into a Successive Interference Cancellation (SIC) framework. This integration is vital for mitigating error propagation issues that are often encountered in conventional SIC receivers, leading to more reliable signal detection.
Extensive theoretical analysis and simulations have demonstrated that the proposed DL-NOMA-CSK system achieves superior performance across several key metrics. It shows enhanced spectral efficiency (SE), energy efficiency (EE), and a lower bit error rate (BER). Beyond these, the system also offers improved security and robustness, all while maintaining lower computational complexity compared to traditional multi-user DCSK systems and other existing deep learning-aided schemes.
These significant advantages validate the practical viability of DL-NOMA-CSK for secure and efficient vehicular communications, paving the way for more advanced and reliable intelligent transportation systems. The research also highlights the system’s exceptional energy efficiency, achieving an optimal value of 1 due to the complete elimination of reference signal transmission. In terms of security, the system makes it considerably more difficult for unauthorized users to decode information, benefiting from the absence of reference signals and the complex superposition of multiple user signals. Even when faced with imperfect channel state information, the DL-NOMA-CSK system consistently outperforms benchmark systems, showcasing its strong generalization capabilities and practical applicability.
